This house is located in the historical village of Villalago (AQ), and enjoys wonderful panoramic views.
It is a compact, semi-detached, stone-built village house, with its own private entrance. It is 42sqm (452 sq ft approx.) and is all on one level.
A heavy, traditional, double wooden door opens onto a small entrance hall which then leads to a double bedroom, an open-plan living / dining / kitchen area & a spacious bathroom.
The bedroom has large glazed doors leading onto a balcony and offers panoramic views of the village and the mountains beyond. There is a brand new wooden bed frame with matching bedside tables and a large mirrored wardrobe. All furniture is included in the sale price.
The spacious bathroom is tiled throughout and has a shower, toilet, bidet, vanity unit with wash basin & storage, and is plumbed for a washing machine.
The brick-built kitchen area is in a traditional, Abruzzese style with a ceramic tiled work-surface. There is a full-sized electric oven, a gas hob and a refrigerator, and the walls feature a number of hand-painted tiles of scenes from nearby Scanno.
The kitchen window overlooks the quiet lane to the front of the house. All window frames throughout are solid wood and are fitted with both double glazing and traditional, wooden shutters externally.
In the living room there is a working fireplace and built-in shelving units in pine, plus a double sofa bed and a Satellite TV installation.
There is wooden parquet flooring throughout and a modern, mains gas central heating system with wall-mounted radiators.
The house is in the centre of the village, near the piazza, and is approached via a narrow cobbled street. Parking is available outside the property.
The house, which belonged to the owner’s great-grandparents, was probably built in the mid 19th century, and was most recently renovated in 2014.
Villalago is located in the heart of the beautiful and unspoilt Abruzzo National Park. It is just 5 minutes from the lake at Scanno and 15 minutes (8 kilometres) from the village of Scanno itself. You can also walk or bike along the quiet back roads to the lake.
Further afield, the house is only 40 minutes by car from Sulmona – the birthplace of the great Roman poet Ovid and the city of confetti. It is also just under 2 hours from Rome and slightly less than an hour to the international airport at Pescara.
The village is situated at 930m above sea level and has a permanent population just over 600 inhabitants. It’s also one of the ‘Borghi Piu Belli d’Italia’ (The most beautiful villages in Italy).
The village amenities include 4 restaurants, a bar, a pharmacy, a mini-market and a post office. A wider range of services and facilities are available at nearby Scanno.
The Villalago & Scanno area offers a year-round playground for those who enjoy sports and the outdoors. Skiing is available during the winter and the lake attracts many visitors during the hot summer months. The shoulder seasons are always good for walking and cycling and there is trout fishing nearby at the Lago di San Domenico.
